My Top 10 Mangas/ Manhwas of 2019

This is the year when I read less books and more mangas and manhwas. I am ashamed of myself. I only finished two books this year. To think that this blog was originally created with the thought of writing book reviews. I don’t know. I can’t bring myself to pick up a book.

Anyway, I wouldn’t be talking about the plot of these mangas in this post. I would just be talking about why I like them. I want you to check them out yourself and be surprised.

1. Koimonogatari (Ongoing)

This might be my favorite manga I have ever read. I love how it is so pure and how it makes me so soft. The story have a very smooth flow, it’s not hasty but it’s not slow as well. My only frustration about this is the very slow updates. They only update about four times a year so if you are not a very patient reader you might get frustrated about that. But seriously, this manga is so good. Like absolutely breathtakingly good. Awow. And the art. Oh my God. I’m inlove with the drawings. The characters are so beautiful!

2. 7 Seeds (Completed)

The only completed manga in this list. I love how each and every character is so memorable. There are technically around 40 characters introduced but each and everyone have such great representations in the story. I may not be able to recite all of their names but I know their characters’ role in the story. They were all introduced to the story very well and have very good back stories. And every characters had their own shining moment. Well, given the premise of the story each character is very individualistic as they were chosen for their unique strengths. But still. Even the minor characters were so memorable. Even the dogs! And that robot. That’s how good it is.

3. The Promised Neverland (Ongoing)

After enjoying 7 Seeds, ate Aila told me that I might enjoy this one and good Lord. I did! The trio Emma, Norman and Ray have a really special place in my heart. I feel like the children in this manga are my kids. Like I am their Mama. But not the Isabella kind of Mama. Huhu. I am still scared about how it will end for Norman my bb. And I still don’t know what happened to Phil.

4. Koisuru Boukun (Ongoing)

This is the first smut manga I seriously enjoyed and I am still enjoying. Most smut panels are censored nemen. Anyway, I’ve read a lot of yaoi already as of today *cough* Ten Count *cough* Super Lovers *cough* Sekaichii Hatsukoi *cough* Killing Stalking *cough* BJ Alex *cough* and it’s not easy to get me hooked when it comes to smut manga because most are rape-y and sobrang nakakayamot yung MCs. Di ko din matapos yung iba kasi puro chukchakan chenes nalang. Like, can you guys at least talk??? But this one have actual conversations between the MCs. They talk about their issues. They talk about their boundaries, their demands, their wants and needs. Medyo di palang honest sa sarili niya si Tatsumi. But this has really good character development and I really dig that. I also love it when there’s a huge tsundere character and this one has that. This has slow updates as well, with only new chapter every 53 days. But I approve!

5. Shingeki no Kyojin (Ongoing)

AAAAAH! This was such a surprise. When I decided to read this I didn’t know how much I was going to love it. But then, I have always love shounen better than shoujo. I hate that I love the story so much. I hate that I get so invested in the characters so much because next thing you know, they are dead! You don’t even get the chance to properly love them at times. I cried so many tears. I mourned for so many characters. I just want this to end in a happy note. But I am not so sure if that is even possible.

6. Kimetsu no Yaiba (Ongoing)

This one too! I didn’t know that I was going to love this. Much like SnK, there are a lot of lovable characters who ended up dying. But what I really love in this is the brotherly/sisterly love of Tanjirou and Nezuko. Tanjirou is really best boy. Such an adorable brother. The trio Tanjirou, Zenitsu and Inosuke have such a cute and weird friendship. But I love them all and I want to protect them at all cost. I don’t think my heart can take it if something seriously happens to them.

7. Dr. Stone (Ongoing)

This is another suggestion from ate Aila. I’m not a fan of the art but I love that it’s about science. I feel like I want to go back to grade school and re-learn everything. Or better yet, I want to go and teach kids Science. Senku is such an amazing character. He’s got a hero-syndrome where he wants to save everyone but not in the martyr way.

8. Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card Arc (Ongoing)

My first love. Cardcaptor Sakura defined my childhood. I believe this anime shaped my view on love. I mean, girl, you will be able to witness all forms of love in this manga regardless of gender and form. In this arc though, I love that we get to watch Sakura and her friends grow. And I love that we get to see all the things that Syaoran is doing for Sakura. Huhu. My heart.

9. Kakao 79% (Ongoing)

This is so cute although there will be a lots of kakagigil moments because you just want the two MCs to realize that they really do like each other. I actually almost gave up on this. Thankfully, I didn’t. Because it’s so cute. It’s still ongoing and currently they are exploring the story of the other two leads so I’m curious how it’s going to pan out.

10. Here U Are (Ongoing)

Oooh. The panels of Kakao 79% and this one looks the same. Anyway, this is the kind of fluff I love. The development is slow which some might find annoying but I like the pace. It’s just right, well, for me. And oh my God the recent update made me so soft. I love the two MCs so much.

I hope to read more mangas next year. And hopefully more books. Give me suggestions for mangas to read please.
