#INKFest2018 Loots

Hi! For some reason, I ended up going to the #INKFest2018 event held at Fully Booked in BGC last October 20. I had no idea it was happening that day. I think I just saw an advert of it once when I paid Fully Booked a visit a few weeks ago but it didn’t really fully sank in brain. So around lunch time of October 20, in an attempt to pass time while waiting for my food, I decided to watch IG stories on my feed. And what I saw was Fully Booked’s story that INK Fest was underway already. So after inhaling my lunch, I ran to check out what this INK Fest was all about.

Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan (INK) is an association of artists committed to the creation and promotion of illustrations for children.

Got that from their website. Hee. Anyway, they are the first and the only organization who dedicates their time, talent, and passion to the creation of children’s illustrations. You can actually read more about them on their website INK.

So yeah, as I have said, it wasn’t part of my plans that day to go to the INK Fest so I didn’t come prepared. There were talks, live demos, merch booths, and exhibits organized by them throughout the day. I swear my eyes were twinkling the entire time that I was there. It was only for a couple of hours but it felt so nice to be surrounded by so much art, and so many artists and art enthusiasts alike in those two hours . There were so many really beautiful artworks from different Filipino artists on their pop-up fair with their merch booths and as much as I have wanted to purchase everything, my wallet said that we couldn’t. But still, I was still able to purchase some really good stuffs.

And that is what I am going to share with you.

A really cute tote bag. There were other artists selling tote canvas bags with their prints on them but I chose this one because ultimate souvenir. Hee. I really wanted to get Issel de Leon’s tote bags too but alas! I didn’t have enough cash with me.

These sleepy birds instantly grabbed my attention while I was at her booth. It is very simple and very high-key and the colors she used are love.

I love this illu! Not the colors I would normally use if I were to make an illustration but damn they look good. So warm and dreamy.

Art by Kora Dandan-Albano

I love everything in her booth. I would have bought every postcard design if I had the money. I love how Pinoy her theme is!

I was torn between this and the illu of kids playing “sungka” but ended up choosing this one instead because I don’t know how to play “sungka“. Haha. I, at least know how to play “piko” so looking at this is a very nostalgic experience for me.

Yung panghanap kayo ng mga kalaro mo ng pambato niyong basag na paso. Haha.

Art by Ruth Jacob (IG: skyorange)

I love her prints of her photographs of cherry blossoms but I’m all for traditional original art so yeah.

Art by Marcella Suller (IG: marcella_suller)

My bb No-Face. She has a lovely collection of merch. Loads of Ghibli and cats and kpop and other cute stuffs.

Art by Rev Cruz (IG: revcruz)

I grabbed this thinking it was the moon. When I read the description at the back though, it turned out that it was Pluto with the heart image. This is coffee art by the way. Cutie, right?

This is a book compilation of Sir Rev’s students. He teaches kids ranging from 6-8 years old creative writing and art. What a lovely profession, no? Haven’t gone through this one yet but I already know that I am going to love this.

So that’s it folks. Not a lot but I am glad to have been exposed to this world. There are so many talented artists in our country and it is so inspiring to see them in live action. Hee.

Hoping to attend more if these kind of events in the future. And I am hoping that I will be able to talk to the people around me next time.

    1. It was. So many lovely artworks. I am hoping that I would be able to attend again next year and listen to the talks from the artists. I was only able to listen to 5 artists because I had to leave already.
