I was tagged by the awesome Oxria to participate in this Q and A. I remember being excited about doing this the moment I saw it but I somehow forgot about it. Haha! Me and my short-attention span.
Okay. Let’s do this!
What is your favorite Christmas film?
I love Christmas but I haven’t really watched a lot of Christmas films. But I’d say “Love Actually” is my favorite Christmas film. (Because it’ the only Christmas film I have ever watched.)
Have you ever had a white Christmas?
Noooo! I really wish to experience it though. But I hate being away from home for Christmas so that’s kind of a conflict for me.
Where do you usually spend Christmas?
We always celebrate Christmas at home. We have our Lubis family reunion in our place every Christmas.
What are your favorite Christmas songs?
Christmas in our Hearts by Jose Mari Chan, Grown Up Christmas List (Kelly Clarkson’s version)
When does your family put up your Christmas tree?
We usually put it up after Undas (All Saint’s Day). Or Halloween for some of you.
Do you open presents on Christmas Eve?
No. We don’t do the whole Christmas Eve/ Noche Buena thing so we don’t get our Christmas presents until the family reunion itself which is on the 25th so we get to open our gifts after that, usually in the evening.
What holiday traditions are you looking forward to most this year?
I was looking forward to Simbang Gabi/ Misa de Gallo because since 2008, the only time I wasn’t able to complete the nine Simbang Gabi was last year. I was planning to redeem myself and complete it once again this year. But alas, I was not fortunate enough to complete again.
Who decorates the Christmas tree?
This year, my mom and sister did it. In the past years though, I did the decorating of the tree.
Is your Christmas tree fake or real?
It’s fake because where can you get real Christmas trees in the Philippines. Haha.
Do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts?
Giving gifts it is! I love wrapping gifts! Haha!
What is your favorite holiday treat/meal?
I don’t know. There’s so many yummy foods when it’s Christmas.
What is the best Christmas gift you’ve ever received?
Oh, I guess it’s this book called For One More Day by Mitch Albom which my high school friend gave me. It’s one of the first books I ever owned. Unfortunately, another high school friend borrowed it and never returned it.
What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
Anywhere with snow. Haha! Switzerland is a good place I think. Or Japan?
Are you a pro present wrapper?
Naaah! As much as I love wrapping gifts I’m super slow when it comes to it. And I waste so much gift wrapper. Haha.
What’s your most memorable holiday moment?
I don’t really know. Every Christmas holiday is very different but every time it is fun. It is always fun. But I guess, I remember the 2012 Christmas the most. Because it was the first Christmas without our Mamay Ute. He was the heart of our Christmas reunions. We were still able to enjoy it but of course it was different.
What makes the holidays special for you?
It’s family time for us.
Are you a late Christmas shopper?
Do you like having your Christmas gifts kept as a surprise?
Yeah! But honestly I don’t mind knowing about it.
Have you ever peeked to see what your present was?
Does your family have a special holiday recipe that you make every year?
No. We don’t really have one. But my mother’s leche flan is a sure hit to our cousins.
Have you ever gone Christmas-caroling?
Yeees! We do it all the time when I was a kid. Haha.
What tops your Christmas tree?
A bunch of long silver stuffs.
When do you start getting excited for Christmas?
When September comes. Christmas season in the Philippines starts at September.
What makes Christmas special for you?
Why do you celebrate Christmas?
Uhm… Why shouldn’t I?
I’m not going to tag anyone to do this because I know other people do not view Christmas as something to be excited about and I don’t want to offend anybody by tagging them. Just know that it’s okay! Your feelings are always valid! Love you guys!
